A student volunteer for the Carpathian Large Carnivore Project (CLCP) uses radio telemetry to locate a wolf pack consisting of one female adult wolf and her mate in the Bucegi Mountain range near Brasov, Romania. A book about wolves in Romania – where today lives the largest population of wolves in Europe west of Russia – Dreaming of Wolves places you in the midst of a team of researchers, students, and eco-volunteers as they intensively monitor and track this wolf pack in the Carpathian Mountains of Transylvania. Information gathered about the wolves' predatory habits is used to characterize the real impact of wolves on human interests in the region, to debunk myths, and to formulate strategies to reduce conflicts between wolves and the shepherds and farmers who live and work in the same spectacular mountain territory.
